My parents and I decided not to wait to start the vegetable garden. We wanted to eat vegies this summer so we went ahead and planted several plants a couple of months ago and hold and behold we have vegies. I have made chicken soup with some of the veggies from our garden about 3-4 different times.

The green beans taste wonderful. I have bell peppers and hot peppers as well. The squash has not grown yet but we are waiting. The tomatoes have flowers but no tomatoes yet. I really want to make that area really nice. Little by little I’ll get there.

This is one of those things that make a house a real home.

We had an old bench outside and decided to refinish it. My husband went to Home Depot and got paint for metal. He was also able to find some type of chemical that takes away the ugly brown and black water damage from wood.

After we sanded down the wood and the metal, we painted the metal a shiny black and stained the wood to match the fence. The cherry red looks wonderful. The bench now looks brand new.

The chair itself is not an expensive one but we can now get twice the use from the bench for minimal cost.

It was stained to match our wood fence. It looks wonderful. My husband is thinking of extending the back porch over the direction of our family room. That way, the kids will have more room to play outside but not in the sun during the summer.

My husband even took a little cat nap out on the porch the other day and he really enjoyed it. We also put in an out door ceiling fan that works wonderful.

The porch floor is cement but we covered it with play mats so the kids wont get hurt. Genesis loves to be out there. She can play for hours, even by herself. Mikey in the other hand needs a playmate. Dan II loves to feel the breeze on his face. Every time he is out there, he giggles when there is wind and it hits his face.

I can’t wait ’till it is longer and there is more room for the kids to play outside but out of the sun!
