Potty Training!

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

Okay, so Mikey is now 3 years old. In about a month or so I will start potty training him. Hopefully by then Genesis will be ready also and I will be able to kill two birds with one stone. Needless to say this is not something I am looking forward to. I have asked my brother and sister for tips and searched on the net and some how I don’t think its as easy as everyone says it is.

I did try to potty train Mikey last summer and it was awful. But in all reality, maybe being pregnant in last years Texas heat was not the best time to do it anyway. After a couple of days I stopped and told myself I would try again this spring. So here we are, getting mentally ready for this adventure.

If everything goes well, and eventually I know it will- you will see posts about my experience.

Also, if anyone out there has good tips/advice please share!

There Is A Difference In The Way That Doctors Care For Their Patients

Saturday, November 11th, 2006

I just came from the Pediatricians office who told me that Dan II should be sitting down without support at this age. I did not think it to be weird that he is not sitting down. I did not think of that at all. He said that if the baby does not sit without assistance by the age of 7 1/2 months, I should bring him back to see him.

My older brother from California one of his kids was so behind in developing that I would tell him that the baby’s Doctor should know. My brother told the Pediatrician who said she was just lazy. After 3 years, that she was not walking, my brother and his wife switched Doctors to find out the baby girl had MR.

All this time her Pediatrician thought it was normal that a 3 year old could not walk. Can you believe that? My 6 month old can’t sit and my Doctor wants to make sure there is nothing wrong.

There is a difference in the way Doctors treat Patients. Some go out of their way to be good Doctors and others just do the bare minimal to stay in business.

My advice, if something does not look right get a 2nd opinion or call your insurance company and talk to someone there and get some advice on what to do.

This is your family, if you don’t look after them who will?

Laundry Day Again

Wednesday, November 1st, 2006

It’s that time of the week again. Today is Laundry day. I really don’t like doing laundry. This is by far the worse chore in the house. I’ll change diapers all day instead of doing laundry any time. With 3 kids, It seems that the baskets get full quickly.

Every time I turn around they are full and falling off.

Politicians And There Answers To Problems

Monday, October 30th, 2006

I just saw a commercial today about a new guy that wans to be elected and he says that he has the solution for keeping our kids safe. His thing is that he wants to give child predators 25-life for the firs offense and the death penalty for the 2nd offense.

Sometimes the solution is not black or white. I am not saying that this is a bad or a good idea. It makes me think about what would a child predator do after raping and fearing the consequences of his actions. Would he kill the child and dispose of the body? What would a person that is looking to a death penalty do?

I guess that one of have to sacrifice some children to get rid of these people. With time there aren’t going to be too many of them on the streets I guess.

What is the right solution for this problem? Who knows. The only thing I can think of is doing my part as a parent and teach my child to be careful. The other is to put my kids in Gods hand and pray that he takes care of them.

How to Spot and Avoid Mortgage Fraud

Thursday, October 26th, 2006

There are many companies out there that provide home Mortgages. Some of them also say that they are the best. I have found one online company that gives a little more information about their service than most.

I found that you can avoid mortgage fraud by spotting them while shopping.

Understanding the process of home loans and the terminology used will help you avoid fraud. If you understand the process and you find yourself needing information from a company that is not wanting to share that information, well that is a red flag.

One of my uncles in-law bought a house and was given a flexible interest when he wanted a fixed rate. The company did not disclose this to him and years later when the payment went up he was not very happy.

To avoid this type of thing, one needs to understand the process, read the contract carefully and speak up if you see something that does not make sense. Ask the company to leave the contract with you if you need more time to read. Do what you need to do for yourself.

Find out, get informed, and good luck!

Christmas Is Coming!

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

Only 63 days till Christmas. Wow! It’s just around the corner. We are exactly 2 months away in 2 days. Time is going fast. This will be the first Christmas in our House and there are many Christmas Ideas that I am not sure if I will have time for. We, my husband and I wanted to make picture frames from wood and take picture of the kids and mail them to family members. I have flower, butterfly, train and boat shapes so far. I still need to cut the section where the pictures are going. We need a lot of these shapes since we have a lot of family.

This is an easy and inexpensive way to send original gifts to family and friends. I will be painting them also. That should be fun.

I just hope I have time to do all those with everything else.

The Home Office From Hell Contest

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

Offices2Share.com is having The Home Office From Hell contest starting 10/23/06. Here are my reasons why I have the worse home office from hell.

It’s not an office it’s a jungle. I have three little monkeys that come in when ever possible to:

  1. touch anything on site
  2. push buttons from the printer, computer and anything technical on my desk
  3. rip paper and any special project I am working on, any brain storming notes and sometimes even personal documents
  4. write on my desk and any surface they find
  5. The latches on my drawers can only be accessed with a pen tip. This is how I open my drawers everytime. I always keep them close in fear of what my little three monkeys can do.
  6. If I lock the door to the room; my oldest child (oldest money) will pretend he is lady (from the movie “The Lady and the Trump”). He will bark and scratch the door and cry like a dog until I can’t take it any longer and have to stop working.
  7. The youngest monkey sleeps in my office and will wake up crying and wants to eat NOW. He is 6 months old. I have to stop what I am doing to feed him, change his diaper, burp him; attend to him completely. Therefore it will take me twice as long to finish a project.
  8. When things get bad during the day, I tried working at night. The problem there is that my office is in my bedroom and my husband wants to sleep and the monitor brightness hits him on the face. I really can’t do that.
  9. If I wanted to work early in the morning- I would have to wake up at 4 a.m. since the middle monkey(Genesis) is an early riser. She is awake by 5 am. I can’t ignore her since she will scream and hit the door until I open it. She is only 17 months old
  10. Because of my monkeys I keep most of my office supplies in boxes inside my closet. If I need paper, I go through boxes of things to find paper, a note pad, more pens and so on.

This are my 10 reasons why I need an office outside my home. It is hard to try to work from home when I have 3 little ones doing monkey business all the time. I do try taking time here and there to play with them but the more I do that the more they want.

I need to get out of here and be out of my house to do anything. I start projects that take for ever to finish.

Even simply things like checking my email takes a long time because of the many interruptions. I can’t take it any longer!

Everything is going well with Genesis. She has her post-op appointment scheduled for this Thursday. Her stitches are coming off.

I am very exited that the stitches are coming out. After this Thursday she will be able to take baths again. For the last 1 1/2 she has been getting sponge baths per Doctor’s recommendations.

I am so proud of her. She is done very well all this time.

Genesis Is Doing Great After Her Surgery

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006

It has been 4 days since Genesis had her surgery and she is doing GREAT! She has not needed much of her PRN pain meds. which makes me happy. That could only mean that she is doing better then great.

She is running, playing, eating, and all her climbing and jumping as if nothing ever happened. The Doctor (Pediatric Surgeon) called and asked how she was doing. When she learned that Genesis was doing just fine, she was happy. Genesis and I have an appointment with her next week. I know she will be impressed with her recovery.

I am glad this happened here and not California.

Genesis and her Surgery- All went well!

Friday, October 6th, 2006

Dr. Sanchez at the Austin Pediatric Surgery was awesome. She is a real professional.

Genesis was wonderful. I was afraid that she would loose it at the Hospital when she would get separated from me but she did great. When Dan and I were waiting for the nurses to take her to the OR, she got in a little toddler car and wanted us to push her all over the pre/post surgery area. When the nurses came for her I asked if she would be allowed to be pushed in the car into the OR which they agreed. She went so easily.

After the surgery I was called in the Recovery room and she was somewhat unhappy but nothing like I would have imagined. She was calmed by her pacifier and seeing me made all the difference. By the time I was allowed to take her into the pre/post surgery area where Dan was, she seemed like nothing ever happened.

She was GREAT!

Thank you Genesis for taking it easy on Mommy and Daddy. God knows, we would not have taken it so well otherwise.

I love you Baby!
