Garden

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Last summer, we had a fruit and watermelonvegetable garden in our house.  In "trying" to organize myself,  I came across this picture of the only watermelon we were able to grow the first summer we had our garden.

I have to say that it was very juicy and sweet.

I could not believe how this delicious watermelon came to be.  Hines the reason for the picture.  One day sitting in the back porch eating store bought watermelon my parents and I were chatting about anything and everything as the little ones played out in the back yard.  My Mom started throwing the seeds on the yard and every time she would say "maybe this one will grow".  Any ways to make this short story short, about end of August I think it was we were cutting the watermelon and I was taking pictures before we all jumped in to enjoy.

It was GOOD!

Moving Up! Buying another House?

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

That’s right, we are buying another house. We are moving up. We will be getting about 1,000 sq more with our new house which is to be built by April no later then early May.

Some people may say that this is not the time to buy but we have thought about this for about 6+ months and it is the best time for us to buy. You see, unlike California we never experienced a bubble here in Texas so there is nothing to burst in the real estate economy here. Our first house is paid off and we have that to fall back on if we need to but I don’t see that happening.

We are all excited about the new house, the floor plan is beautiful and we are getting some things that my husband and I always thought it would be nice to have like a nice long covered porch, a balcony, game room, 4 1/4 baths and 5 rooms for our growing family. We also get a formal dining room and a study. I always wanted a fireplace and I am getting it. Another thing that we always thought to be nice was a nice front door, one of those fancy ones and we are getting one as well.

I could go on but it is almost mid-night and I want to sleep some tonight! But I will finish with this: It feels nice to have a house that one could stay there for years to come and have plenty of space for everyone.

My World, My Home, My Family

Friday, October 19th, 2007

I ask myself, what have I done to my world(society), my home(earth), my family(future generation). I was reading an article on the Austin American Statesman by a man named Jonah Goldberg, who writes about why he is anti-abortion. The bottom line was that he is not sure about when fetuses are truly human beings and being unsure makes him not want to take the chance of killing an unborn human being.

This article started it all for me this morning. After reading that I began thinking about everything that I have strong feelings about. For example global warming, abortion, and war.

This is not to say that these are the only things that take time in my thoughts. But when I think about global warming and recall the stupid and the ignorant things we all have done at one time or another I can’t help it but feel guilt. I remember that some time ago leaving the bank a group of college students came up to me and asked me for a few minutes of my time to talk about our environment. I thought to myself, “I really don’t have time” as I said “No, I’m sorry” and walked straight past them and into my car. Maybe if I would have listened with an open mind then…….maybe, just maybe things would be a tiny bit different. I look around and see that the awareness of global warming is starting to see more alive but is it enough. The members of my family are doing our share by buying fuel efficient vehicles, sharing a vehicle when possible, using energy efficient bulbs, using fans in every room, turning lights off when not needed and things like that but then I look around and see what our community, local government and federal government are doing or better said “not doing” I get discouraged. I don’t give up but I loose faith in our society. I only hope that we are not too late and that we can still know that our children and our children’s’ children would see the beautiful things we’ve seen nature give us.

Then is the abortion issue. I believe that there are a few reasons why a woman should have the choice to terminate a pregnancy in the early weeks. For example, if it would threaten her life, conception following rape and things like that but even then I think it should be done on a case by case basis. I think that people in general should be held accountable for the mistakes they make. If a teenage girl wants to have sex and gets pregnant, this is not a reason she should have an abortion. If she opened her legs, let her be responsible for ‘her mistake”. If we continue to give our kids a way out by giving them permission and rights, they will never learn the lesson. Instead I think we should teach them about being responsible and owning up when a mistake is made. Lets teach our kids how important a life is and what a huge responsibility it is to bring a child into this world, maybe then they would think twice about having unprotected sex.

When a wife is being unfaithful to her husband and becomes pregnant outside her marriage and society says, “You have the right to get ride of the evidence of your unfaithfulness.” What really are we gaining? You may think that I am going overboard but It is really hard for me to think that a faithful wife, responsible teenager, loving mother would ever be pro-abortion. I just can’t help to think of these people as being unfaithful wives, irresponsible teenagers and people that don’t like to go to restaurants and hear a family at the next table with 3 very happy and goofy kids have a nice family day out. But like I said, I also believe that there should be help for those who get raped and conceive and those loving mothers that find out after their second child that her life is threaten if she goes thru with a pregnancy and there is a chance of leaving her husband and her two young children without a mother.

Life is so precious, one only needs to think about the things we have seen and experienced within one week to know that. The beautiful trees, the breeze, the sun going down, a child’s’ laugh, a mothers’ song, the face of a new father, wrinkles on the face of a loved grandmother. Why would anyone deprive anyone else from those things. We don’t have that right. We don’t have the right from terminating anyone from having the chance to Life.

Now, the war issue is a long time coming. We, and by that I mean the human race have been at war for many reasons in our history. Some reasons have been political, money, hate, religion, freedom, ignorance and in small occasions to defend. Politicians now a days go to war so that their pockets can get bigger no matter how many lives are lost. In our history, hate and religion have played a role. We have also seen freedom and ignorance. There is the political reasons, “Well my sugar Daddy nation is at war with this other country, I have nothing against them but I’ll go to war against them as well so that my sugar Daddy is happy”.

The only war I think should ever be fought is to defend. To defend our family, our lives not favor from other nations or potential wealth or our egos. But unfortunately this is the one that is not fought.

Why then, do we allow wars? I have a theory! I think wars start inside ourselves. When we don’t treat others like we should. When we assume the worse in others. When we are ignorant about other cultures, religions, races, and status. When we have not learned to say “I am sorry please forgive me” or “This is my fault, I will fix it”. When we refrain ourselves from seeing beyond our immediate circle and forget about our brothers and sisters around the world. You see, if we all thought of human beings as brothers and sisters maybe then we would sympathized, forgive and understand each other for who we are. Accept the fact that we are all different, speak different language and have a different way of seeing things, maybe then our differences would not bother us as much or make us uncomfortable.

I saw a movie once. It was called “Pay it forward” I believe. It was basically doing good things for people you meet and hoping that they would pay going forward and doing good things to those they meet and so on. You may think it’s cheesy, but it really isn’t. Have you ever done something simple for someone but meant so much for that person? Has someone done something for you that was a life saver? How did it make you feel? It makes me feel wonderful to know that I was at the right place at the right time. Wouldn’t it be nice to be that person everywhere you go? The person that is at the right place at the right time every time. What if we all were that person?

Only then would Love, Peace, Safety, Freedom, Family, Health and a Future mean so much more then the definitions of these words imply.

If we all realized that we are the ones that make up society, that own the earth, and that our future generations are in our hands maybe then there would be change. The vast ocean holding such powerful strength is contained by one grain of sand at a time. One by one we can all make a change for our future and stop the problems which are the same issues that our fathers faced once and for all.

Mikey Swimming?

Monday, August 6th, 2007

This summer I wanted to get the kids out and having fun so I enrolled Mikey in swimming lessons. The City provides classes for toddlers at one of the community pools here in Round Rock.

The first day Mikey was unsure of himself. The strangers around him and the other kids he did not know but on the second day…., he was asking me “Swimming with the kids?” Needless to say, that made me feel better. To know that he enjoyed being in the pool and playing with other kids his age and not being afraid of the water like he usually is when I take him swimming.

This is his last week and I speak for him and I when I say “We loved it!”.

Genesis Has a Doctors’ Appointment

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

This is Genesis 2 year check up today.  She sees her Doctor every year after today.  Poor baby, she will be getting her 2 year shots.

She usually does not cry but she gets angry at the nurse and gives her a look.  Genesis is very expressive that way.  She does not say much but she lets you know just by looking at you when she is not happy.  No mistaking when she is upset.

Maybe I’ll take her for ice-cream when she is done.

I hope everything goes well!

Home Projects and Decorating Projects

Monday, May 21st, 2007

Today I have added two categories. Home and Decorating Projects. Anything having to do with re-decorating including but not limited to painting rooms adding decor pieces, lighting, flowers, curtains, color, texture and such will be under this tab.

Adding things like the porch, making a bench or other furniture, garden, adding walls or knocking down walls for that matter will be under the Home Projects.

I really want to focus my site into everything that happens to this Stay At Home Mom. I realize that a big part of my job is to make our house be a home for my family and I want to share the projects we start and the accomplishments in finishing these projects.

I want my kids to be able to read back and see everything we all did when they were just babies and have everlasting memories of that.

I do hope that all my readers enjoy my posts and are always coming back for more!

Potty Training Mikey: part II

Monday, May 21st, 2007

Okay, so it has been about a week and a half since I started potty training Mikey. I have to say that this time around it has been much easier, me not being pregnant and all. Mikey also seems more receptive to the idea. Whenever I am home I make sure he is wearing underwear and I have him sit in the potty about every 30-45 minutes.

He does not know the difference between going number 1 or 2 but has done both. That makes me a very happy Mom. Especially, since he gets really exited when he goes potty. I am doing so much better this time around that I am thinking of potty training my 23 month old at the end of the summer.

I definitely think that Mikey will be ready for school in September. To be honest, that is the reason why I wanted to start with him since it’s a requirement that he be potty trained by then. Otherwise he could not start school. No doubt, he will be ready.

I got him spider man underwear and he is very careful not to get them dirty, needless to say that is a big help. He is really doing great!

The one thing I need to work on next is getting him to sit in the regular toilet. He seems to be afriad of it. I think that when that happens he will be ready to go out in public with no problems. “Till then, potty training is strictly at home at this time. I can’t wait ’till he’s ready for the “world”!

Who is Loudlaunch?

Saturday, February 10th, 2007

Okay so there is a new kid in town. I have sign up with Loudlaunch (online advertising company) and this is what I have learned so far.

-The LoudLaunch network allows bloggers to get paid for advertising and distributing press releases or news of different companies online.

-Advertiser’s with any budget can create campaign’s starting at $50. Unlike other companies out there that charge and arm and a leg. The reach of a campaign is determined by the campaigns budget. Obviously a higher budget allows more bloggers to distribute the news.

So far, I like the way that Loudlaunch is doing things, it is simple and less complicate for bloggers to get on and start bloging. My husband and I have been with them for about a month and we really like them. The thing that I like is that the information or press releases are not spamming like other companies.

They have opportunities that I really care about reading not only to blog but for my own personal use. I want my readers to enjoy and use the information on my blog. I want them to come back for more but if they don’t find things that they like they won’t.

Bottom line, Loudlaunch is the bomb in my book!

Cool! Flashlights for Christmas Gifts for my Flashlight lover, My husband!

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

I found this cool website. My husband loves flashlights. I know what you are thinking, this is something weird to like but he can be weird sometimes. He has so many flashlights you would think it was crazy. He has one on every car, through out the house, in his emergency kit, under the baby’s crib, you name it, he has them.

Anyways going back to what I was saying, I found this cool website made just for my husband with lots and lots of flashlights. The best part is that you can get free UPS shipping with a $29 purchase. I think this cool be a cool gift for him. I would get a grade of A+ with this gift.

My brother who was in the navy started him on this love for flashlights when he brought home a military one for Christmas one year and he loved that flashlight ever since and every good flashlight out there.

I guess it’s a guy thing, I could never see me collecting flashlights. Dan is so crazy about flashlights. Now that we have a house about 3 times as big as we did before he is in need of more flashlights.

We used to have them on the linen closet, in the bathroom, in the garage (about 2-3), in the back porch, in the kitchen, living room and just about anywhere you can think of. My husband says it’s good to have them in case the light ever goes out but in the 10 years I have known him we only used them once.

He recently saw a controlled fire but did not know that at the time. It was dark and he got his flashlight out and say, ” You see, this is why you need a flashlight”.

Anyways but what ever his reasons, I know he likes them and makes him happy to have a good flashlight. Oh, I almost forgot the time when he was controlling traffic after an accident, the flashlight did help the people in the SUV not to get hit by in coming traffic. I guess, he is right. He needed a good quality flashlight that would give out a good beam in order to have the cars coming see him and the SUV behind him.

Yeap, Flashlights for Christmas will get me an A+ this year.

6 Month Check Up For Dan II

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

Today Dan Junior turns 6 months and to celebrate (yeah right) we are going to visit his Doctor. This is one of those hard breaking things for a Mom. To see another person stick a needle into a 6 month old baby. I know it’s for his own good but I still feel bad to see it.

The worse part is when they ask you to hold your kid down, that’s the worse.

God help me!
